While a problem with the delivery of an infant’s shoulders can occur for no apparent reason investigators have shown that certain factors will dramatically increase the chance of shoulder dystocia. These factors must be known, observed, identified and a plan of delivery prepared BEFORE THE CRISIS OCCURS! If this is not done, it is almost certain that injury will occur.
